The most expensive bedrooms in the world fail on the same three counts: too much light at five in the morning, too much light at eleven at night, and a switch you have to get out of bed for.
Blackout is not a blind, it is a detail. Light comes around the edges, not through the fabric, so the reveal, the box and the side channels decide whether a room is dark. A 4,000 euro motorised blind without side channels is worse than a cheap one fitted outside the reveal.
At the other end of the day, the room needs a light you can read by that does not light the ceiling, and one warm, low source for the last twenty minutes. Two circuits, two dimmers, one switch by the bed. That is the entire specification.
